Muscle strength is very far from the state of disease (some patients on the lung transplant list due to COPD, have normal strength).
In many patients with chronic disease, hand grip strength may be preserved and quad strength might be low. We should have both measures to make sure that we didn't miss anything
Grip strength: Often used for general quantification of muscle strength (all ages) and normal values are available for all ages. It is a non-weightbearing muscle
Normal for a given age vs ‘weak’ as a concept… (comparable to osteoporosis)
