Recognise prodromal symptoms
- Red flags that need referral:
- Exercise-related syncope: always warrants thorough and rapid evaluation
- Exertional chest pain/discomfort/radiating pain
- Exercise induced dyspnoea and/or reduced exercise capacity
- Palpitations - especially when followed by symptoms such as syncope, light-headedness, shortness of breath
- Positive family history of sudden unexplained death before the age of 50 years
