Numerical rating scale
Please rate from 0 to 10 how confident you are that you will be able to execute this home task with 0 indicating no confidence at all and 10 representing the highest possible confidence.
The interpretation depends on the question.
When asking for self-efficacy levels on a scale from 0 (no) to 10 (max. self-efficacy) , a thumb rule is that at least a score of 7 should be given.
A lower score calls for follow-up:
Why a … and, for example, not a 7?
What is needed for you to come to a confidence level of about 7?
Merits of the NRS
NRS are widely used due to their simplicity and adaptability to a broad range of populations and settings.
NRS are sensitive to small changes in self-efficacy, more so than are simple descriptive ordinal scales.
It takes < 30 seconds to complete
No training is required.
Test–retest reliability and validity have been shown to be good.
